Since January 15, 1908, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated has made its membership available to serve, encourage, and promote the needs of others. Our service transcends beyond the boundaries of our community to provide service globally throughout the world. .

A Legacy of Sisterhood and Service
In 1946, Nancy Evelyn Brandon called members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. living in Rochester, NY together with the purpose of forming a graduate chapter. They petitioned the North Atlantic Regional Director, Sophie Fowler to begin a graduate chapter here. Following a year of intense work, on February 17, 1947, Delta Nu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was chartered in Rochester, NY at the home of Lydia Bodie Peyton

Service and sisterhood have been the cornerstone of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® since 1908. With the theme Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood, the 2022-2026 administration seeks to build upon Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s rich legacy of service by galvanizing our sisterhood of more than 120,000 active members to lead on the front lines of change, education, and advocacy.
